Liberalism and nationalism Liberalism is an ideology based on a set of principles: citizens have national sovereignity and can vote states have separate branches of power constitutions stablish the rights and duties of citizens individuals have right to own property there is a free market economy. Nationalism is a political ideology that advocates the rigth of nations to create their own state. The French Revolution The unrest that led to the Revolution was caused by : an economic crisis wich left many people hungry bourgeois frustration over a lack of political influence a refusal by the privileged to pay taxes. The revolution began when the Third State proclaimed themselves the National Assembly and promised not to disband until a constitution was drawn up.
